High Tech Council Names New VP (State House News)

HIGH TECH COUNCIL NAMES NEW VP: Boston Foundation executive James D. Rooney is joining the Massachusetts High Technology Council as vice president, managing its public affairs and public policy agenda, the council announced Monday. Council president Christopher Anderson said in a statement that Rooney had been helpful in the council's education reform efforts and is "very well regarded in policy and political circles." Rooney will manage MassTrack.org, the council's "online government assessment tool," and the MassTrack Legislative Caucus, an effort to bring lawmakers together with tech industry leaders to discuss public policy. Rooney has been director of public affairs at The Boston Foundation since 2005. He previously worked as policy director at CEO for Cities and director of community and government affairs at Brown University. A Palmer native, he lives in Dedham.
